These Homemade King Hawaiian Rolls are the best! Way better then store bought!
These homemade rolls are amazing. They are sweeter then a regular roll because of the pineapple juice but it really gave them a unique taste! These were a hit with the family and they definitely preferred them straight out of the oven with butter melting on top.
You can also make this into loaves or a combo of both rolls and loaves! Either way it will be a change up from the usual bread or roll recipe and the sweet taste is divine.
These make great sandwiches of course! My favourite is ham, goes great with the sweet tasting roll.
These also freeze well if you want to make them ahead of time. Great for school lunches as well.
Great for making Ham and Swiss Sliders!

Homemade King Hawaiian Rolls
Ingredients
- 6 Cups all-purpose flour plus another 1/2 cup, divided
- 3 eggs
- 2 Cups pineapple juice room temperature
- 3/4 Cups sugar
- 1 Tsp vanilla
- 2 envelopes yeast 1/4 ounce
- 1/2 Cup butter melted
Instructions
- Beat eggs in a small bowl.
- Add pineapple juice, sugar, vanilla, and melted butter.
- Measure 3 cups of flour into a large bowl.
- Stir in egg mixture until well-combined.
- Sprinkle in the yeast packets one at a time, mixing well.
- Add the remaining 3 cups of flour and mix well. If it becomes to difficult to stir with a wooden spoon, just use your hands! Make sure all of the flour is well incorporated—the dough should be tacky to the touch but not overly sticky. If it appears too wet, sprinkle in a bit of extra flour, just a tablespoon or so at a time. Cover your bowl with a clean kitchen towel and set it in a warm place to rise for 1 hour.
- Remove your dough from the bowl and knead in an additional 1/2 cup of flour. I kneaded mine 10 to 15 times, making sure the flour was well incorporated.
- Form the dough into rolls, and/or loaf.
- Place in buttered pans.
- Cover and place in warm place to rise for an additional hour, or until the dough doubles in size.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Brush tops with melted butter, and serve warm.
